Flux-induced vortex in mesoscopic superconducting loops

This paper studies the order parameter in doubly connected supercon-ducting samples in a uniform magnetic field. It is found that that there are field ranges for which a vortex is present in the sample. Curiously, this vortex appears at the thin side of the sample for small fluxes and at the opposite side for large fluxes.
